Prime Minister chairs video conference on ODA disbursement
(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc presided over a virtual conference Thursday on the disbursement of ODA loans and preferential loans from foreign sponsors.

ODA is an important financial source for development but its disbursement is slow. The Prime Minister suggested ways to solve the problem.
Prime Minister recommended solutions to settle this issue, "First, we need to put specific agencies in charge of ODA disbursement. Second, we need to increase our goal of ODA disbursement in the last two months of 2020. If 30% is already disbursed, can we disburse 50% by the end of the year?"
Mr. Phuc added, "Localities which fail to disburse their ODA this year will have to file a report and will not be allocated another amount next year. Strong sanctions should be put in place to prevent ODA recipients from failing to disburse it and passing the ball of responsibility to the Government. Localities must also report on their reciprocal capital, local budget, and any government support that they need."
