In Nay Pyi Taw, Mr. Phuc met President Win Myint, held talks with State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, and met Speaker of Union Parliament T Khun Myat.

Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Minh Khoi, who accompanied the Prime Minister on the visit, said Myanmar gave a warm, special reception for the Vietnamese guests. He added: “Myanmar’s protocol was very solemn. But what are more important was the genuine sentiment reflected in the gestures of the Myanmar President and other leaders during the sincere high-level talks. The overarching message of the visit was that Vietnam and Myanmar have traditional relations built in the  President Ho Chi Minh and Leader Ong San  era. Both countries’ leaders reiterated their will power to strengthen bilateral ties. Wherever the Vietnamese Prime Minister visited, he received sincere sentiment from the locals. We are confident and happy about such development in the Vietnam-Myanmar relations.”

Both countries signed numerous cooperative agreements during the visit. Prime Minister Phuc said: “We are most impressed by the rapid growth of bilateral trade and investment. By this year, two-way trade topped 1 billion USD, higher than expected, and will continue to grow. We have discussed solutions to boost investment and cooperation in defense, security, and foreign affairs, and show mutual support at regional and global forums. The visit contributed to furthering the comprehensive, traditional cooperation between the two countries.”
