He said there would be a recession, years of uncertainty and weaker trade if Britain left the EU. The PM criticized the leave campaign’s misleading statistics to get the outcome they wanted when they were reckless with people’s futures and set out no economic plan. Former Mayor of London Boris Johnson and Justice Secretary Michael Gove claimed that the UK would be hit with an extra £2.4bn bill from the EU if it votes to stay. He also said that the EU undermines NATO and weakens national security. Michael said the European court of Justices (ECJ) can strike down UK’s laws, forcing UK to accept its rulings.
Latest opinion polls on Monday surprisingly indicated that UK voters now favor the country leaving the EU. The YouGov’s poll showed 45% support for a Brexit, with 41% saying they wanted the UK to remain in the EU. In the latest ICM survey, it even showed higher rate of votes for Brexit with 48% for leaving, and 43% for staying. Referendum on Britain’s UK membership will be held on June 26.
