(VOVworld) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has praised Vietnam US trade and investment potential when receiving US Treasury Secretary, Jacob J. Lew, in Hanoi on Thursday.

He asked for an early signing of a double tax avoidance agreement and completion of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement by this year as well as US recognition of Vietnam’s market economy. He said that as a member of the World Trade Organization, Vietnam commits to fulfill all its obligations while rapidly integrating with the world for sustainable growth. He pledged close cooperation with the US in the TPP negotiations and asked for flexible approaches suitable for each country’s development level and Vietnam’s core interests in line with TPP members’ wish for an equal treaty. Treasury Secretary Lew said the US treasures its cooperation with Vietnam in trade and investment as well as the country’s participation in the TPP negotiations. He urged Vietnam to be flexible in the negotiations on electronic payment, market access and investment dispute resolution. He said the US has actively accelerated negotiations for a double tax avoidance treaty with Vietnam.
