The province has worked to shift its economic structure, attract foreign direct investment, set up a high-tech zone to raise shrimp, and ensure social security. Phuc asked the province to speed up disbursements for civil construction, encourage start-ups, and improve its human resources for development.
Phuc said: “We need to build a shrimp production center and Vietnam’s shrimp trademark which respects environmental protection. I agree with the province’s plan to form a high-tech industrial zone to raise shrimp in Bac Lieu.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Planning and Investment will coordinate in implementing the project. The project should be implemented in a poor locality to boost the local economy.”
Bac Lieu province estimates that a high-tech industrial zone to raise shrimp would increase productivity from 15 tons to 150 tons per hectare. The Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to introduce comprehensive solutions to deal with climate change effects in Bac Lieu.
