Prime Minister receives Executive Chairman of Alphabet Inc.
(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said the Vietnamese Government always creates favorable conditions for foreign businesses to invest and carry out business successfully in Vietnam.
Those were Mr. Phuc's words at a reception for Eric Schmidt, Executive Chairman of the US's Alphabet Inc, Google’s parent company, in Hanoi on Friday. He added that as the two countries have huge potential for cooperation, the upcoming official visit to the US by a Vietnam’s high-ranking governmental delegation will seek to step up economic, trade and investment ties for mutual benefit. The Prime Minister asked Google to work closely with the Vietnamese side to tackle distorted information violating Vietnamese law posted by some elements on the Internet.
Executive Chairman Schmidt said he just attended the inaugural ceremony of a Google-sponsored project to train digital literacy for Vietnamese farmers. The project will enable those living in remote and rural areas to use information to serve their daily life and boost production. Mr. Schmidt said his company will work closely with Vietnam to remove evil information infringing Vietnamese law and will study the viability of a representative office in the country.
On the same day, the Vietnam Farmers’ Association and Google jointly held a workshop to launch a project on training farmers how to use computers, smart phones, and the internet.
