Prime Minister stresses international role in protecting transnational rivers
(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Saturday emphasized the importance of cooperation of partners, organizations and donors and experience sharing in responding to climate change in the delta regions.

The Prime Minister received international delegates to the Conference on Sustainable Development of the Mekong Delta, Adapting to Climate Change, in Can Tho City, on Saturday. He thanked the international delegates for attending the conference on the Mekong Delta, which is heavily affected by climate change, and suggested promoting cooperation in human resource training and foreign direct investment for deep processing industry to increase the value of products in the Mekong Delta.
Prime Minister Phuc also called for international cooperation in protecting downstream area as Vietnam and other countries in the downstream area are heavily impacted by the upstream. The Prime Minister expressed his wish to listen to ideas and promote cooperation in the development process, especially experiences and valuable lessons from other countries.
Representatives of development partners and international organizations applauded the promulgation of Resolution 120 by the Government of Vietnam and its results, and the organization of a conference on sustainable development in the Mekong Delta. They pledged a strong commitment to work with Vietnam to overcome the challenges of climate change.
