Program on building new rural areas sees encouraging progress
(VOVworld)-The pilot program on building new rural areas has basically met the set requirements after 3 years of implementation. According to a meeting in Hanoi on Tuesday between the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat and the program’s Steering Committee, 8 out of 11 target communes have achieved criteria on infrastructure construction, contributing to local socio-economic development.
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said that new rural areas are taking shape in all aspects: “Building new rural areas is a brilliant idea but the program needs to be carried out comprehensively. There should be general criteria for the whole country and specific criteria for each region. Rural areas are moving forward industrialization and modernization but the cultural identity of each region should be maintained.”
