The event was hosted by the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and the embassies of Venezuela, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Myanmar in Vietnam. Participants included representatives of the Foreign Ministry, some member countries of the Non-Aligned Movement, and international organizations. Assistant to the Foreign Minister, To Anh Dung, said the Bandung principles were combined in Vietnam’s foreign policy, in which the country prioritizes the intensification of the friendship, solidarity and cooperation among Asian and African countries. He said Vietnam’s relations with Asian and African nations have been growing in politics, economy-trade and culture: “Vietnam is bidding for the non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council in the 2020 – 2021 term. We have actively participated in UN peace keeping activities and implemented the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. This reflects Vietnam’s strong commitment to international integration. We pledge to develop the ASEAN community to ensure regional stability and cooperation.”

At the seminar, participants discussed the Bandung Conference’s values and contributions to the national liberation movement and the struggle for independence, peace, cooperation and development on the basis of the UN’s fundamental principles and international law.
