(VOVworld) – A seminar to promote the production and consumption of green products through sustainable public procurement and eco-labelling (SPPEL) was held in Hanoi on Tuesday. The seminar, co-organized by the General Department of Environment, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the UN Environment Program, is part of a project with the same name aimed at assessing Vietnam’s public procurement in terms of legal aspects, regulations, and involved parties, and analyzing the feasibility of applying sustainable public procurement and eco-labelling in Vietnam. At present, there has been no national approach to public procurement in Vietnam. A national program of sustainable production and consumption, covering sustainable public procurement, is expected to start in 2017.
