(VOVworld) – A wave of protests shook many cities across Egypt, as the toppled president Mohamed Morsi’s supporters and his opponents took to the streets to express their anger. In Cairo, more than 250,000 protesters gathered in Tahrir Square and in front of the presidential palace to demand the reinstatement of the Muslim Brotherhood’s ousted President Morsi. Meanwhile in Alexandria, Egypt’s second biggest city, tens of thousands converged on Sidi Gaber Square to protest against the Muslim Brotherhood and the US’s apparent support for Morsi. In the Suez Canal and Mahala, supporters of the military coup held marches to the central square. In other areas, there were protests of the two rival forces outside the governors’ offices, raising worries about the risk of further bloody clashes.
