(VOVworld) – Millions of Egyptians joined demonstrations to support the country’s army on Friday while hundreds of thousands of Muslims took to the streets to support the toppled President Mohamed Morsi. People gathered in Tahrir Square and the presidential palace Ittihadia to raise their support for the army and to oppose the Muslim Brotherhood.

Hundreds of thousands of Muslims converged in Rabaa Al-Adawiya Square, northern Cairo which became a venue of Morsi’s supporters since June 28, to protest a military coup and demand Morsi’s post to be restored. The same day, a number of demonstrations by both factions took place in 21 of 27 provinces and cities nationwide.

In related news, an Egyptian tribunal has ordered to jail Morsi within 15 days to investigate a number of accusations, including spying for Palestine’s Hamas movement to escape from prison, carrying out attacks on police posts, and deliberately assassinating and abducting policemen and prisoners in the 2011 coup.
