Qatar wants to invest in major, sustainable projects in Vietnam
(VOVworld) – At a reception in Hanoi on Tuesday, President Truong Tan Sang expressed his hope that outgoing Qatar Ambassador Abdullah Sultan Al-Hamar will continue to work to foster friendship with Vietnam. President Sang thanked Qatar for backing Vietnam’s bid to join the UNESCO Executive Board for 2015-2019 and the United Nations Socio-Economic Council for 2016-2018. He urged both countries to nurture high-level exchanges and meetings between businesses to boost trade and investment, suggesting Qatar actively seek major projects to invest in Vietnam, particularly in transport, bridges and roads, airports, and oil and gas.

Ambassador Al-Hamar hailed Vietnam as an attractive investment destination in the region. He said the Qatar government wishes to invest in major and long-term projects in Vietnam. He informed the Qatar bank has already opened an office in Ho Chi Minh City and will open a branch in Hanoi. He pledged his support for Vietnam-Qatar friendship in any position.
