Quang Nam proposes piloting vaccine passports

(VOVWORLD) - Central Quang Nam province may become the fist locality in Vietnam to pilot vaccine passports, digital proof of coronavirus vaccination, as the country seeks to reopen to foreign travelers.

Quang Nam Chairman Le Tri Thanh said the province has submitted the plan to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism under which the vaccine passport initiative will be first offered to South Korean visitors before being expanded to tourists from other countries.

Each entrant must have a vaccine passport and a negative test result certificate issued by health authorities. They will travel to Quang Nam in a group tour operated by international travel firms and will board a charter flight.

The visitors will be taken from Chu Lai airport to resorts in Duy Xuyen or Nui Thanh district, bypassing quarantine, and will stay there for between 5 and 10 days.

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism said it plans to reopen in stages the tourism market for foreign visitors. The pilot scheme, from July to September this year, will focus on South Korean visitors.
