(VOVworld) - Quang Ngai province has launched several activities to disseminate information about the Law of the Sea to fishermen to help them understand the legal basis of fishing and defending national sovereignty. The Law of the Sea was ratified by the National Assembly and came into force early this year. Tran Ngoc Nguyen, Chairman of Ly Son district’s People’s Committee says: "Ly Son island district has a large number of vessels fishing in Vietnam’s Hoang Sa and Truong Sa waters, so it’s very important to increase these fishermen’s knowledge of the Law of the Sea and Vietnam’s sovereignty over sea and islands. We disseminate information to fishermen through various channels and provide them with training and printed information about Vietnam’s territorial integrity".

Ngo Muoi, a fisherman in Pho Thanh commune, Quang Ngai province says: "After studying the Law of the Sea, I know more about our country’s sea and island sovereignty. I go fishing to earn my living and at the same time, it’s my responsibility to protect our country’s waters".
