Quang Ninh has COVID-19 under control

(VOVWORLD) - Quang Ninh province said Monday it has controlled its recent COVID-19 outbreak and plans to relax its quarantine restrictions to allow people to celebrate the Lunar New Year if they can do it in a prudent way.

Nguyen Xuan Ky, Secretary of the Quang Ninh provincial Party Committee said Ha Long, Dong Trieu, Cam Pha, and Uong Bi have controlled their outbreaks. F1 and F2 individuals have been traced and quarantined to avoid spreading the coronavirus to the community.

“Medical statistics show that the pandemic is under control in Quang Ninh, specifically in the 5 districts that have reported cases, Mr. Ky said. "We have kept the promise we made at an online meeting in January that local people will be able to celebrate Tet in a safe environment,” he said.

Ho Chi Minh City, after recording 25 new infections linked to the outbreak at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, activated prevention and treatment measures, closely coordinated with local health agencies, and raised its COVID-19 alert to the highest level.

To ensure the safety of passengers departing or arriving at Tan Son Nhat airport, airport staff who have had contact with passengers have been tested twice by the city's Disease Control Center.

Vietnam reported 3 new COVID-19 infections in Quang Ninh province. All 3 individuals are already in quarantine.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Vietnam so far is 2,053, of which 1,472 have recovered and 35 have died.
