It is the first organ procurement to be performed at a provincial-level hospital, according to Quang Ninh Department of Health. Medical staff involved included doctors from Vietnam’s leading organ transplant centers such as 108 Military Central Hospital, Viet Duc Hospital, and Hue Central Hospital.
The donated organs included the heart, liver (right and left lobes), two kidneys, and two corneas. After a four-hour surgery, the surgical teams successfully recovered the organs and transported them to transplant centers across the country, the furthest being Hue Central Hospital. All the donated organs were successfully transplanted the same day, bringing hope to the recipient patients in need.
Quang Ninh is the first locality in Vietnam with a provincial-level hospital to host an organ procurement operation.
