(VOVWORLD) -The Vietnam Red Cross Society on Sunday launched a campaign on the V-Race app to rally about 70,000 people to jog and run to raise some 290,000 USD for charity.

The "Million Steps of Kindness" campaign aims to draw the public to community sport activities and encourage them to adopt a positive life style and contribute to humanitarian activities.
Bui Thi Hoa, President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, said, “This year, to prepare for Humanitarian Month of May, the Central Vietnam Red Cross Society launched the "Million Steps of Kindness" campaign, opening the humanitarian journey from the North to the South. The community can register to participate on the V-Race digital platform. Every step of organizations and individuals spreads compassionate messages about voluntary blood and organ tissue donation, environmental protection and especially fundraising to help children in difficult circumstances and poor people have the opportunity to advance in education and life."

The Vietnam Red Cross Society also organized a humanitarian day of donating blood and registering for organ tissue donation after death.
Blood donor Vu Thi Dung of Quyet Tien residential area, Duong Noi ward, Ha Dong district, Hanoi city, said, “Our residential area has six people participating in blood donation. I donate blood once a year. This year is the 7th time I donate blood. Donating blood is a good, humane and helpful thing for patients."

Humanitarian Month 2024 starts from May 1, during which the Vietnam Red Cross strives to assist 100,000 people with a total expected budget of 16 million USD.
