(VOVworld) - A solemn flag raising ceremony was held at the Hien Luong-Ben Hai historic site in the central province of Quang Tri on Wednesday to mark the 40^th anniversary of southern liberation and national reunification.

The flag raising ceremony aims to honour the sacrifices of Vietnamese people throughout the country and Vietnam’s traditional historic values. It also aims to uphold patriotism and unity and celebrate the great achievements Vietnam has recorded over the past 40 year. A boat race in Hien Luong river was also held on this occasion with the participation of localities in the province.
