(VOVWORLD) - The 13th National Party Congress will take place from Monday to February 2, 2021 in Hanoi with the attendance of 1,587 delegates, the highest number of delegates in 13 Congresses, according to an international press conference in Hanoi on Friday.

Nguyen Xuan Thang, President of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, said the Congress’s theme often includes five elements: Party, nation, motto, development orientations, and goals.
“This time we will emphasize Party building and rectification, aspirations for national development, strengthening reform, maintaining peace for national construction and defense, and setting out a vision to the 100th founding anniversary of Vietnam, when Vietnam will become a developed country,” said Mr. Thang.

Vo Van Thuong, Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Communications and Education Commission, said the upcoming Congress takes into careful consideration people's opinions.
“The documents submitted to the 13th National Party Congress are the crystallization of the wisdom of the entire Party, army, and people including overseas compatriots,” said Mr. Thuong.

Replying to reporters on personnel of the 13th Party Central Committee, Mai Van Chinh, Deputy Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission, said preparatory work has been paid much attention to and five steps have been taken in a stricter and more democratic manner.
“The Party Central Committee comprises of 200 comrades, of whom 180 are official members and 20 are alternate members. The 12th Party Central Committee carefully considered and almost unanimously agreed to choose a number of special cases for the Congress to decide,” according to Mr. Chinh.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Dung told reporters that the Congress documents show that Vietnam will persistently pursue a foreign policy of peace, independence, self-reliance, and multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations.
