(VOVworld) – EU ministers held an emergency meeting in Brussels on Monday to seek ways to resolve the escalating refugee crisis in Europe.

Luxembourg’s Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn, who chaired the meeting, said the EU is considering setting up processing centers in non-EU Balkan states to screen asylum applications by the tens of thousands of migrants. Asselborn said these centers will not replace but support the centers with the same function which have been set up in several EU countries.

After reviewing requests, these centers will decide whether to accept the migrants or force them to return home.
