(VOVWORLD) - Remittances to Ho Chi Minh city reached more than 6.6 billion USD in 2022, accounting for half the country’s total figure, according to a conference hosted by the HCM city Fatherland Front on Friday.
The conference attributed the city’s socio-economic recovery post COVID-19 partly to contributions by the Vietnamese community abroad including 3,000 businesses with investment capital from overseas Vietnamese, as well as more than 400 overseas Vietnamese experts and intellectuals working in the city.
The conference also reviewed the implementation of the program “Vietnamese families with Laotian and Cambodian students studying in Ho Chi Minh City”. The program allows students and families to exchange cultures, learn about the special friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
