(VOVworld) - Speaker of the Republic of Korea’s National Assembly Chung Ui-hwa will pay official visits to the Philippines and Vietnam next week to consolidate Korea’s ties with Southeast Asia, the Korean NA Secretariat said on Friday.
As scheduled, Chung will arrive in the Philippines this Sunday, his first leg during the week-long overseas tour. There he plans to meet with parliamentary leaders to seek the Filipino Government’s cooperation in preventing violence against Korean citizens there. He intends to discuss measures to raise bilateral trade.
Next Tuesday Chung will arrive in Vietnam where he is scheduled to hold talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Sinh Hung and meet other Vietnamese senior leaders.
This will be an opportunity for Vietnam and the Republic of Korea to boost bilateral relations after both concluded negotiations on a free trade agreement last year.
