Romanian President Klaus Iohannis told reporters on Thursday that he believes the plan is not a solution and was inappropriate because of its bureaucratic implementation, without consulting member states.
EC President Jean-Claude Juncker announced a plan to relocate 160,000 immigrants, including 120,000 new comers who are currently sheltering in Greece, Hungary, and Italy, to other EU countries. According to the plan, Germany will receive nearly 32,000 people, followed by France 24,000, Spain nearly 15,000, Poland 9,000, and the Netherlands 7,000. Romania expects to receive more than 4,500 immigrants over the next 2 years, not including nearly 2,000 immigrants who have already been accepted following an agreement last July.
On Thursday, US President Barack Obama called for preparations to receive 10,000 Syrian refugees in the next year.
