In December, Russia and the UK, on a reciprocal basis, issued a number of visas for future employees of their diplomatic missions.
But existing political differences will hamper the functioning of the Russian Embassy in London and Consulate General in Edinburgh, according to the Russian Embassy in London. In March last year, Skripal and his daughter were poisoned in Salisbury with a Novichok nerve agent. The UK accused Russia of masterminding the incident but Moscow has denied.
