Russia considers Venezuela its strategic partner
(VOVWORLD) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said he supports his "friend," Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who faces immense pressure from Western countries.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov conveyed President Putin's words of support and solidarity to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro Friday at talks with visiting Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez. Lavrov stressed that Venezuela is Russia’s strategic partner and expressed his hope to enhance bilateral cooperation in the international arena. He said that Venezuela is facing a frontal attack and interference in its domestic affairs, and Russia categorically opposes such attempts and upholds the ideals, norms and principles of the UN Charter.
The Russian top diplomat said Russia supports the steps of the government of President Maduro aiming at solving social and economic issues.
At a joint press conference following their talks, Rodriguez said Venezuela will continue to strengthen relations and expand bilateral cooperation with Russia.
