Russia expels Montenegrin diplomat
(VOVWORLD) - The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Monday that it would expel a Montenegrin diplomat in retaliation over the incident of former Russian intelligence officer Sergei Skripal and his daughter.
Montenegro's ambassador to Russia Ramiz Basic was summoned to the foreign ministry, where he was given a note of protest for Montenegro's expulsion of a Russian diplomat on March 26 in line with the UK’s stance on Russia, which they say are nothing but “groundless accusations”.
Skripal and his daughter were reportedly exposed to a nerve agent in the British city of Salisbury on March 4. The UK government and its allies accused Russia of launching an attack against them and urged Western countries to expel Russian diplomats. More than 150 Russian diplomats were later expelled. Moscow has repeatedly denied any involvement in the incident and vowed to expel EU and NATO diplomats.
