Russia, one of Vietnam’s most important and reliable partners
(VOVworld) – Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong has granted an interview to Russian TASS news agency before his visit to Russia from November 23 to 26. He said that Russia is one of Vietnam’s most important and reliable partners and the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries has been developing steadily.
He and President Vladimir Putin and other senior Russian officials will review bilateral cooperation in recent years and discuss ways to increase cooperation between the two countries’ localities and regional and global issues of mutual concern. Topics for discussion will also include the Vietnamese community in Russia and increasing people-to-people exchanges. Mr. Trong said he believed results of his visit will create momentum for the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia and raise the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation.
He said that as both countries celebrate the 65th anniversary of their diplomatic relations next year more coordinated cooperation will be needed in the areas of politics, diplomacy, economics, science-technology, education-training, culture, and tourism. The Party leader said Vietnam always tries to promote dialogue and cooperation between ASEAN and Russia in order to make Russia one of ASEAN’s dialogue partners. He added that Vietnam will continue to contribute to ASEAN-Russia comprehensive cooperation for mutual benefit and for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the Asia-Pacific region and the world.
