(VOVWORLD) - Moscow is ready for a quick deal with the incoming administration of US President-elect Joe Biden to extend the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START), which expires on February 5, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Monday.

He said that the top priority is the absolutely abnormal situation in the sphere of arms control.
Months of talks between Russia and President Donald Trump’s administration on the possible extension of the New START treaty failed to narrow their differences.
Joe Biden has already voiced his support for keeping the pact alive.
