Russia will do its best to help Kofi Annan resolve the Syrian crisis peacefully, President Putin told Annan Tuesday at a meeting in the Kremlin Palace.

Putin said Russia has supported Annan’s efforts to restore peace in Syria since the beginning, and Russia will do anything in its power to support these efforts.

Putin hailed Security Council’s decision to extend the UN Monitoring Mission in Syria another 3 months, and called for implementation of the agreements reached at the “Action group on Syria” meeting in Geneva. He said Russia is ready to host a second round of talks to end the violence.
