(VOVworld) - Senior officials of ASEAN and Russia gathered in Vientiane, Laos, on Wednesday to review cooperation during the past year.
Russia said ASEAN has great prospects for development and Russia wishes to see a united, stable, and prosperous ASEAN with a central role in the Asia-Pacific region. ASEAN expressed its hope that Russia will support ASEAN in building the ASEAN Community and enhancing ASEAN’s status in the region and the world.
Vietnam’s Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung said Vietnam highly appreciates ASEAN-Russia relations, which are built based on friendship and promote peace, security, and prosperity in the region. Mr. Dung expressed his wish that Russia will continue to help ASEAN build a structure based on law and exert its influence in resolving regional challenges, like the current East Sea disputes.
