(VOVWORLD) - Russia feels solidarity with Cuba’s government and people, and supports its efforts to stabilize the situation in Cuba, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said Tuesday at a meeting with Cuban Ambassador Julio Antonio Garmendia Pena.

The two men expressed confidence that the situation will soon return to normal, and stressed the inadmissibility of foreign interference or actions that might further destabilize Cuba.
Pena informed Ryabkov of measures taken by the Cuban government to preserve law and order, and the two discussed other areas of bilateral cooperation.
On Monday, many countries around the world expressed solidarity with the Cuban government and people following demonstrations in some localities the day before, and called for lifting the US embargo, which has hampered Cuba's economic development, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
