Russian President pledges to strengthen cyber security
(VOVWORLD) - President Vladimir Putin on Friday warned that the number of foreign cyberattacks against Russia is increasing and that Moscow needs to improve its cyber defenses by limiting the use of foreign software and hardware.
Addressing a meeting with the Security Council of Russia, President Putin said that there are purposeful actions to disable Internet resources of Russia’s important information infrastructures, adding the targets of the cyber attacks were mainly the media and financial institutions.
He stressed the need to strengthen information security and switch to the use of domestic technology and equipment. Russia needs to "radically reduce the risks associated with the use of computer technology, telecommunications equipment and foreign programs," he said.
