At a meeting in Tehran on Wednesday, Rouhani referred to the nuclear deal – officially called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) - between Iran and world powers, including Russia, calling it a multinational agreement whose survival is important to world peace. He said Russia’s role in bolstering the agreement and the commitments of all parties is “important and influential”. Putin said a unilateral termination of the nuclear deal under any pretext is not acceptable. Cooperation agreements have been signed between Russia and Iran in energy, peaceful nuclear technology, and transport.
