(VOVworld) – Russian Prime Minister Dimitri Medvedev visited HCM city on Tuesday as part of his ongoing visit to Vietnam. At a reception, Mayor Le Hoang Quan said that the city would continue to contribute to friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

He hailed cooperation between HCM city and Russian localities in recent years and said that their trade revenue last year was 300 million USD. The Russian Prime Minister said he hoped cooperation would continue to prosper and invited companies in HCM city to develop projects on Russian soil, particularly in the Far East in a number of areas including garments and textiles, seafood processing, and fertilizers. He and Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai co-chaired a Vietnam-Russia Business Forum the same day. Russia now has more than 100 FDI projects in Vietnam totaling 2 billion USD, making it Vietnam’s 17^th largest investor. Two-way trade last year was 2.6 billion USD. Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai said: “It’s important to continue implementing the two countries’ commitments to boosting our comprehensive strategic partnership. Favorable conditions are being created for both countries’ businesses to invest in each other’s market.”

The Russian Prime Minister also visited the Cu Chi underground tunnel, a historical relic site in HCM city before concluding his visit to Vietnam.
