Russia’s online seminar discusses East Sea

(VOVWORLD) -  China wants to control all natural resources in the East Sea (internationally known as the South China Sea) to meet its domestic energy demand and is willing to violate rights and legitimate interests of its neighbouring countries, heard an online seminar on the East Sea held by the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences on Saturday.

Delegates discussed different aspects of the East Sea issue and the situation in the Asia-Pacific region including Southeast Asia.

The seminar spotlighted Vietnam’s consistent policies in settling East Sea issues via peaceful means and in accordance with international law and the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Vietnam also attaches great importance to cooperating with Asian partners and other countries around the world, including India, Australia, Japan, and Russia, said participants.

Vietnam believes its strong cooperation with these countries will contribute actively to easing tensions and promoting peace and stability in the East Sea, they noted.
