(VOVWORLD) - 13 people, including seven children, were shot and killed at School No. 88 in Izhevsk, a city 960 km east of Moscow in the Udmurtia region, Russia’s Investigative Committee said on Monday.
21 people were injured, including 14 children. A period of mourning has been declared in Udmurtia until this Thursday.
President Vladimir Putin decried the murder and sent condolences to the victims’ families. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said the government will provide all necessary help and assistance in connection with the tragedy.
The Investigative Committee identified the gunman as 34-year-old Artyom Kazantsev, a graduate of the school. He killed himself after the attack.
