Search for missing Malaysian plane suspended
(VOVworld) – After receiving news Tuesday that Malaysia Airlines’ flight MH370 crashed in the southern Indian Ocean, Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang sent condolences to Malaysian King Apdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung sent condolences to Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh sent a telegram of condolence to Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifa Hj Aman.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) on Monday announced it was suspending its search for the plane due to bad weather, but said it will continue investigating the incident. The announcement said the search will resume on Wednesday if the weather improves. Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said Australia will continue to support, cooperate, and facilitate the investigation in order to determine the cause of the plane’s disappearance. He expressed his regrets to the victims’ relatives.
The AMSA’s search suspension came after Najib held a press conference to announce that no one survived the flight.
At a press briefing a few hours after Najib’s statement, US State Department Spokeswoman Marie Harf said the Department has no reason to believe it’s not true, but it has no independent corroboration of the conclusion. Harf said Washington is working closely with the Malaysian government. Meanwhile, France's Bureau of Investigation and Analysis said that it’s still too early to start a deep-sea search for the wreckage of the plane.
