(VOVworld) – The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has held a seminar on sustainable employment for guest workers in Hanoi.

The participants agreed that Vietnamese government considers sending workers and experts to work in foreign countries an important strategy which helps resolve the issues relating to employment and socio-economic development. The Ministry said it is working with relevant ministries and sectors to complete legal documents on guest workers and develop foreign labor markets, strengthen management and improve the quality of overseas workers. Dao Cong Hai, Deputy Director of the Overseas Labour Management Department of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said: "First, it is necessary to complete legal documents on Vietnam’s overseas workers and expanding overseas labor markets. Moreover, we need to improve the quality of the workforce, especially their foreign language skills, and set up some training centers for guest workers. Labor Management Departments and enterprises in foreign countries must protect the benefits and rights of the laborers".

Experts from the International Labor Organization and other ASEAN countries agreed that there should be cooperation between countries to assure the benefits and rights of workers who are working in the regional countries.
