(VOVworld)- The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Danish Embassy and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization jointly held a seminar entitled “ Prospects for the Vietnamese Agricultural Market in 2013” in Hanoi on Thursday. Despite global economic difficulties, the Vietnamese agricultural sector achieved a growth rate of 3.4% last year and earned more than 27 billion USD from exports. However, the capacity of agricultural processing remains low, standards of food quality and hygiene have not been ensured and farmers’ lives are difficult. This year, in the face of slow economic recovery, the agricultural sector needs to focus on restructuring, and stabilizing the productivity and the areas of cultivation. Participants praised the importance of global value added chains and farming diversification.
