(VOVworld) - Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Yu Zhengsheng on Monday urged proper settlement of disputes between China and Japan and called on Japan to make an effort to improve ties.

Yu told a group of visiting Japanese lawmakers, led by veteran Liberal Democratic Party lawmaker Takeshi Noda, that dealing properly with history is the foundation of China-Japan relations and essential for establishing stable ties. Yu called for enhanced people-to-people diplomacy and more exchange activities. He said the two countries should abide by the four China-Japan political documents, enhance trust, and cooperate with each other rather than posing threats to one another. He called for joint efforts by both sides to improve and develop Japan-China ties.
