Speaking at the virtual inauguration ceremony, Le Quang Trung, Deputy General Director of the Vietnam Maritime Corporation, said that VIMC considers India an important trading partner of Vietnam.

VIMC opened a container shipping route linking Vietnam’s Hai Phong city, Malaysia, and India last November to ease pressure on cargo transportation, stabilize the supply of transport services, and support domestic firms. In May, it brought 1,000 TEU container ships to Cua Lo in Nghe An province to transport goods to India. This is a direct connection between Vietnam and India which beats the transportation time of other routes.

VIMC intends to launch another route to Chittagong port in Bangladesh in August.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Bangladesh Pham Viet Chien said he hopes this route will boost trade between Vietnam and Bangladesh. He said the Vietnamese Embassy in Bangladesh is ready to support connections between Vietnamese and Bangladeshi firms.
