The successful organization of ADMM and ADMM Plus reflected the commitment on the part of ASEAN and its dialogue partners to strengthening security and defense cooperation for regional peace and stability, and was a vivid illustration of Vietnam’s effective leadership, he said.

Minister Ng said several important outcomes were attained at the meetings, particularly in the field of security threat response with the “Our Eyes” initiative, which promotes information sharing in anti-terrorism.

He said he was pleased with the consensus among ASEAN members and partners on calming maritime tensions in the South China Sea (called the East Sea in Vietnam) by promoting negotiations on a Code of Conduct that is based on international law, including the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
