Slovakia announces halt of military aid to Ukraine
(VOVWORLD) - Slovakia's newly-appointed Prime Minister Robert Fico said Thursday that his government is stopping military aid to Ukraine. Slovakia is the first Western country to do so.

Fico said Slovakia will no longer supply weapons to Ukraine, something he promised during his election campaign, but will still supply humanitarian aid to the country. The EU should stop being an arms supplier and become a peacemaker, he said.
Slovakia was one of the strongest supporters of Ukraine after Russia began a "special military operation" in Ukraine last February. It was the first country to provide anti-aircraft weapons to Kiev and opened its doors to Ukrainian refugees.
