(VOVWORLD) - To improve the relationship between the two Koreas, South Korea's parliament on Monday approved legislation to ban the sending of propaganda leaflets into North Korea.

The law was opposed by MPs from the People's Power Party (PPP).
Anyone sending leaflets, blaring loudspeaker broadcasts, or erecting giant billboards in border areas can be punished by up to three years in prison or a fine of 27,000 USD.
In June, the release of anti-North Korean leaflets across the inter-Korean border provoked North Korea to shut down the communications line which had been maintained through the Inter-Korean Liaison Office.
