(VOVworld) - Choi Soon-sil, an aide and friend of South Korea President Park Geun-hye has been taken into "emergency detention" after being questioned about her alleged involvement in state affairs.

60-year-old Choi, was arrested "without a warrant". South Korean media speculate that she manipulated government affairs and took advantage of her relationship with the President to seek profit.
