(VOVworld) – The 5^th Vietnam Music Day opened on Wednesday at the Hanoi Opera House featuring special musical performances of symphony orchestra and chorus. The audience was treated to immortal songs including “The fatherland melody”, “Life is still beautiful”, and “Singing in the middle of Pac Bo forest”.

Speaking at the event, Do Hong Quan, President of the Vietnam Musicians’ Association, recalled September 3^rd, 1960, when President Ho Chi Minh conducted a chorus and an orchestra in performing the Song of Unity to mark the 3^rd National Party Congress and the 15^th anniversary of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. He said the image of President Ho Chi Minh on that day has become a symbol of Vietnam’s culture and music, and friendship and solidarity among peoples. September 3^rd has been observed as Vietnam Music Day since 2012, with annual performances to mark the event.
