This year's program exceeded its goal of 5,000 blood units by 66%, helping to meet a blood shortage following the Lunar New Year holiday.
COVID-19 has triggered a steep decline in the number of donors and blood supply for treatment and emergency, the Hanoi Youth Union Association for Blood Donation said.
Launched in 2008, the program has collected more than 93,000 blood units and become Vietnam’s largest annual blood donation drive.
