(VOVworld)-President Tran Dai Quang has affirmed that overseas Vietnamese are an indispensable part of the Vietnamese nation. Addressing the “Homeland Spring 2017” Festival in HCM city on Friday night, President Quang said overseas Vietnamese have contributed enormously to Vietnam in various fields, from science and technology, education, investment to culture.

He called on 4.5 million Vietnamese people abroad to join hands to build Vietnam into a powerful and prosperous country.

“I hope that overseas Vietnamese will continue to uphold our tradition of solidarity and mutual assistance to raise the status of the Vietnamese people globally and strengthen relations between Vietnam and other countries. I believe that no matter where they are and what they do, overseas Vietnamese always turn their hearts and minds to the homeland.”

President Tran Dai Quang said that the Party and State always try their utmost to create the best conditions for overseas Vietnamese to return to Vietnam or to settle in their host countries.

President Tran Dai Quang visits Military Zone 9

The same day, the President visited Military Zone 9 in the Mekong Della city of Can Tho ahead of Tet or the traditional Lunar New Year Festival, presented Tet gifts to disadvantaged families and offered incense at a relic site dedicated to former President Ton Duc Thang in An Giang province.
