(VOVworld) - The conference’s statement says the 11^th Party Central Committee convened its 8^th conference in Hanoi from September 30 to October 9. High on the agenda were socio-economic situation in 2013, plans for socio-economic development in 2014; the implementation of the 11^th National Party Congress’s resolutions on socio-economic issues and educational reforms; the revisions to the 1992 Constitution; a review of the 10-year implementation of the resolution of the 8^th conference of the 9^th Party Central Committee on the Strategy for national defense in the new situation. The conference approved with 100% of votes the Resolution of the 8^th conference of the 11^th Party Central Committee and agreed to issue a resolution of the Strategy for national defense in the new situation. The Party Central Committee decided on important issues related to Party building, discussed the regulations of Party elections, and the establishment of subcommittees to prepare for the 12^th National Party Congress.

The Party Central Committee calls on the entire Party, people and army to stay united, uphold the achieved results and strive to successfully fulfill socio-economic development tasks for 2013 and the following years, creating a foundation for Vietnam to become an industrialized nation by 2020.
